Wasserman Foundation Donates $250,000 to Robin Hood Foundation Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort

Casey Wasserman, President and CEO of the Los Angeles-based Wasserman Foundation, today announced a $250,000 donation to the Robin Hood Relief Fund for Victims of Hurricane Sandy. The Robin Hood Foundation is working to bridge the gap for New Yorkers between catastrophe and the help that will come from government sources.

“It is heartbreaking to see such wide-scale devastation directly impacting so many lives,” said Wasserman. “We felt that even from across the country, the duty to identify and support an organization that is making a huge effort. I have confidence that the Robin Hood Foundation has and will continue to play a vital role in providing support and funding to numerous partner organizations aiding New York, New Jersey and the surrounding region.”

“I have tremendous appreciation for Casey Wasserman and his Los Angeles-based Foundation and that they chose to help their fellow citizens during this critical time,” said Robin Hood Foundation CEO David Saltzman.

Robin Hood’s relief efforts focus on five key areas: emergency assistance; housing; unemployment; health and mental health; and small businesses. The organization has raised $12 million since launching the fund last Friday, November 5th. They have already distributed $3 million including meals for hungry families, cash disbursements for individuals who have lost wages or those in need of medication, and funds to over 75 community partners to dramatically increase their services to match the demand of those in need.
