Trey Thompkins, power forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, visited Palmetto Elementary School near Atlanta, GA on November 4, 2011. Thompkins participated in a school-wide assembly and spoke to more than 500 students about health and wellness. The assembly celebrated the school’s success in becoming a healthier place to learn and work.

Palmetto Elementary won the Silver National Recognition Award through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program. Since joining the Healthy Schools Program, Palmetto has incorporated fitness breaks into the daily morning announcements, physical activity during class periods and also running and Zumba clubs for school staff members.
