Marcelo Suárez-Orozco will serve on Carnegie Foundation’s Board of Trustees

Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, Wasserman Dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, has been selected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching until 2019.

The Distinguished Professor of Education and renowned scholar on mass migration, globalization and education expressed his honor to join the foundation. “For well over a century, the Carnegie Foundation has been bringing together leading scholars, practitioners, designers and others to work on fundamental problems of educational practice. I look forward to learning from and working closely with the esteemed trustees and colleagues at the foundation.”

The foundation supports the necessary alterations in American education through the formation of closer ties among teaching practice, student learning, communication and opportunities to build knowledge. The organization advocates the use of improvement science to accelerate learning with an overall goal of developing the essential knowledge for a reform idea to spread promptly and effectively.
