Los Angeles area teachers, students and classrooms should soon be getting a boost from some top entertainment industry partners.
CAA and Casey Wasserman‘s Wasserman Foundation are teaming for School Day 2024. The initiative, launching Sept. 14, serves as a county-wide call to action to encourage partners “to adopt a Los Angeles school for a day of service, mentor program and/or provide essential financial resources.” A bunch of high-profile Hollywood companies have already committed and outlined their specific plans, including Fox, Amazon, Paramount, Disney, NBC Universal and Bad Robot, among others.
“Supporting students and educators has long been a focus for CAA, and a cause I am personally passionate about,” CAA’s co-chairman Richard Lovett said. “For many years, I volunteered at Venice High School, teaching a weekly class to help empower our future leaders. I know firsthand that our time and resources on campus is a worthwhile investment, and part of our commitment to creating a brighter, more equitable future for everyone.”
Added Wasserman, who serves as president and CEO of Wasserman Foundation, chairman and CEO of Wasserman, and chairman of LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games: “I believe that a good education is an absolute right and not a privilege. In order to have a successful community, city, and society we must provide strong opportunities to all students regardless of their zip code. In an effort to level the playing field, the Wasserman Foundation has been working over the past 14 years to renovate schools and give needed resources.”
