Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch is an independent, nongovernmental organization comprised of lawyers, journalists, academics, and country experts that investigate and expose human rights violations and hold abusers accountable. Their mission is to stand with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice. Human Rights Watch tirelessly pursues issues in women’s rights, children’s rights, and the flow of arms to abusive forces; in addition to other special projects include academic freedom, the human rights responsibilities of corporations, international justice, prisons, drugs, and refugees. The Wasserman Foundation has a long-standing relationship with the organization, recognizing the importance of their work and offering support as issues are tackled and resolution becomes a greater reality.

Surfrider Foundation

Founded in 1984, the Surfrider Foundation is a grassroots, non-profit, environmental organization that works to protect our oceans, waves, and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. The organization’s most important coastal environmental work is carried out by 60 chapters located along the East, West, Gulf, Puerto Rican, and Hawaiian coasts. Surfrider Foundation now has over 40,000 members in the USA and, in addition, HYPERLINK “http://www.surfrider.org/intl.asp” International Surfrider Foundation chapters and affiliates have been established in the 5 foreign countries of Japan, Brazil, Australia, France and Spain.

The William J. Clinton Foundation

The mission of the William J. Clinton Foundation is to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. To advance this mission, the Clinton Foundation has developed programs and partnerships in the areas of Health Security, Economic Empowerment, Leadership Development & Citizenship Service, and Racial, Ethnic and Religious Reconciliation. In addition, the Foundation supported the creation of the Clinton Presidential Center, which includes the Presidential Library and Museum and the renovated Choctaw Station, built in 1899, which houses the Clinton School of Public Service and Clinton Foundation office. Another feature piece of the Center and Park is the Rock Island Railroad Bridge that will be renovated into a pedestrian bridge crossing the Arkansas River. As of completion, the building and the secure collection of the Clinton Presidential archives are administered by the National Archives and Record Administration (NARA).
